Two women hit in wrong-way crash, driver charged

SAN ANTONIO -- A man has been charged with intoxication assault following a wrong-way crash on the South Side over the weekend.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 9800 block of Villamain. A police report states 46-year-old Francisco Morales was driving the wrong way on Villamain when he crashed into 54-year-old Shaista Qamar and 19-year-old Amina Qamar, who were standing by their parked vehicle. Shaista Qamar was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) with a broken arm, a fractured pelvis and head injuries. Amina Qamar was taken to Santa Rosa Medical Center with neck, back and hip injuries.

Morales told police he had taken hydrocodone and morphine prior to driving.

If you are ever stranded, do not stand close to your car but get way away from it. It's usually what these drunk mofos aim for, especially at night and if your tail lights are on. They think they're following the car in front of them. If you're close to it, you're screwed.
