SAN ANTONIO -- Police have responded to two robberies in just three days at an apartment complex near UTSA.

The robberies happened at the Outpost Apartments in the 6800 block of UTSA Boulevard. In the latest attack, police say four men were inside an apartment playing poker, when three men came in with guns around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. The victims told police they thought it was a Halloween prank, until they were pistol-whipped. The crooks took their cell phones and wallets and then left in gold Ford Taurus.

Two students were also robbed at gunpoint at the apartment complex around 11:00 p.m. Monday. As the two thieves were leaving, they hit a man outside with their shotgun. The robbers took off in a silver Cadillac.

Police are trying to determine if the two robberies are related. According to our Crime Tracker stats, police have been called out to the apartments around a half a dozen times this month.

If you have any information about either of the robberies, please immediately Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP (7867), submit a tip online, or text a tip by texting "Tip 127 plus your tip" to CRIMES (274637).

Residents, arm yourselves! Armed intruders can and should be shot . . . keeping a loaded weapon in your apartment, for your protection, is a valued constitutional right and you should avail yourself of that right!

It is strange that crime is getting worse. Maybe football brings out the ghetto in people? Even before that though, I always saw beer bottles all around the apartment complexes there and at the elementary school right there. And don't forget there are always Registered Sex Offenders nearby, and they've been there before football.
