POTEET, Texas -- Two people are in the hospital after being shot in an apparent road rage incident.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Poteet off the 9200 block of Highway 16, in between the Don Juan Restaurant and the Dairy Queen.
Police said words were exchanged between people in two cars, and one group opened fire on the other. Two men, Rudy Robles and Javen Aguero, were shot. Both were airlifted to University Hospital. Their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
There was also a 6-year-old little boy in the car with Robles and Aquero. He was not hurt. A relative picked up the boy after he was checked out at a local hospital.
The three people in the other car were questioned and released. Poteet police are still collecting evidence and investigating. They will then determine whether they will make arrests or if the shooting was a case of self-defense.
