Two hurt in Atascosa County oil rig accident

CHARLOTTE, Texas -- Two people were injured in an oil rig accident in Atascosa County Monday.

The accident happened just before 7:00 p.m. about 13 miles south of Charlotte. Officials say it was caused by a piece of equipment used to cut water pipes.

The two injured workers, who's names were not released, were airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC). No information on their conditions have been released.

So, when is WOAI going to update this article. Read elsewhere that one worker lost both hands, the other worker lost an arm, and a third was minimally injured. I understand that with the quick need to fill jobs in this booming area of employment, many safety procedures and measures get "overlooked", and we now suffer the consequences. Actually, "we" don't suffer, but the families of those lost and/or injured do. I actually blame this mostly on the Federal Government, due to the fact that jobs are a free-for-all in some aspects, and if the FEDS were taking care of business and this country as they are supposed to, these situations would never happen.
