SAN ANTONIO- Police are looking for the 26-year-old driver of an SUV who fled the scene of a deadly crash Sunday.

The accident happened around 1:40 p.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 35 near Loop 410. Two children were killed in the accident. According to police, 4-year-old Jesse Panchame and 6-year old Keylin Panchame lost their lives when the white Ford Expedition they were riding in had a blowout. Officers say neither child was properly strapped into their seats and were thrown from the vehicle when the driver lost control of the SUV, hit a guard rail, and rolled over.

The SUV landed in front of oncoming traffic on Interstate 35.

“The 18-wheeler was southbound on the interstate, I believe in the left hand lane. When one of the children was ejected, he struck the child,” said Detective Tim O’Connell.

Little Jesse died at the scene. Keylin was airlifted to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Two other passengers in the SUV, the children's 25-year-old mother and a 15-year-old boy, were also taken to University Hospital. They are expected to recover from their injuries.

Police don’t know why the 26-year-old driver of the SUV took off or where he was headed. The driver of the 18-wheeler will not face any charges.

The headlines suggest a big rig was at fault "yet again". This was a very tragic accident where two young children lost their lives, not because of the big rig, but because of the people who did not restrain them in the SUV, and the cowardly punk who ran away. The driver of the semi had no time to react to a child thrown into the path of his truck, and that he has to live with. Get the headlines straight instead of trying to lure in the readers. RIP young angels...RIP!

this type of crash and run has happened multiple times before. illegals do not follow our laws - immigration or driving or kids in safety seats.

@sandymike...get off your soapbox! We need the oil and jobs, yes there could be more caution with drivers but have you watched the news lately....some of the fools in SA and surrounding area drive like they are the only ones on the road. Unless you are completely against jobs and progress.

You can hollar illegals this and that all you want. Ultimately the mother is charged with the kids safety and well being. She did not restrain them properly in the van and she let an unlicensed driver operate her vehicle.

So...3 kids, no insurance, and a boyfriend that's an illegal. I really feel for the rest of the family, but the mom is a complete idiot.
