SAN ANTONIO -- To men were arrested for allegedly stealing brass vases from a local cemetery.

Police say 50-year-old Nelson Schilling and 43-year-old Michael Alvarado are charged with metal theft. Officers were dispatched to Mission Burial Park South in the 1700 block of Southeast Military Drive Thursday evening after police received a report about some suspicious persons. When officers arrived, they found two men who were in possession of brass vases like those used on gravestones.

The officers recognized the description of the men from a report several months ago dealing with metal theft. Police said detectives were able to locate information they believe links the pair to thefts of vases worth as much as $12,000.

Actually, @Superspurs, they would be taking work away from some honest person if we “punished” them by allowing them to dig graves. How about if they’re executed, and thrown into the landfill to be gnawed on by dogs, coyotes, and vultures, hum? That sounds more appropriate to me. Oh, and thanks, @djdavidp.

These two should have to dig graves as punishment.

They’re not only stealing from the dead, they are stealing from the grieving families left behind, who visit gravesites and bring flowers in homage to their loved ones. Then they wait for the families to replace the stolen items…and steal the new ones! I’ve got to go check my Dad’s gravesite. Oh, and if anyone else is considering picking up where these two left off? I go armed.

I thought people who stole and/or robbed old people were the lowest of the low but...these two POS' are without a doubt the BIGGEST pieces of scum and trash around. What the hell is wrong with you all stealing from dead people?? Memo to the cemetery workers, shoot first next time and ask questions later.
