SAN ANTONIO - Twinkies may be in short supply, but Hostess says they have enough to make sure families in need get a sweet treat.

Hostess donating more than 8,000 Twinkies, Ho-Ho's, Ding- Dongs and Zingers to the San Antonio Food Bank Monday.

“Now we believe in healthy eating, and about forty percent of what the Food Bank distributes is fresh produce, but we believe in moderation,” explained Eric Cooper from the Food Bank. “So this is a wonderful, tasty treat to be able to enjoy in moderation and it's just kinda cool to be able to supply.”

The Food Bank learned of the donation over the weekend through an e-mail and its partnership with HEB.

We at News 4 WOAI are hoping once again to raise one million pounds of food for the San Antonio Food Bank by the end of the month. As of today, more than 847,000 pounds have been collected in our Food 4SA drive. You can help by dropping off donations at any Security Service Federal Credit Union or H-E- B. Just look for the big red bin.
