SAN ANTONIO -- A man standing outside a Northwest Side liquor store was hit by a truck Monday morning.

The accident happened around 9:15 a.m. in the 1900 block of Fredericksburg Road. A woman who was driving her father's pickup truck said the brakes went out. The truck jumped the curb in front of Deano's Discount Liquor and hit a man standing on the walkway. The truck also hit a pole and the corner of the building.

The man who was hit was taken by EMS to a hospital to get checked out. He is expected to be all right.

No charges are expected to be filed against the woman who was driving the truck.

Certain elements have lately been taking to suicide car attacks on liquor stores. This is the second such attack in the last couple of months. So far, none have involved bombs. I fear that it is only a matter of time before some misguided soul crashes into one of these liquor stores with some kind of a car bomb. I believe that this type of behavior is a serious matter and they are just wrong, wrong, wrong. God does not want Christians to get involved in suicide bomb attacks. If you blow yourself up, you go to Hell for one thing. Also, it is just plain rude to take a bomb somewhere and God hates rudeness. I advise a cessation of this kind of foolishness. We do need to close these liquor stores down, but lets not act so nasty.

I'm really surprised that the religious contingent here hasn't piped in on this. Saying something like it was god that took over the truck to keep this poor retch of a sinner from going in the liquor store.
