SAN ANTONIO - Around 10:45 Sunday night homeowners on Lost Trail on the Northeast Side received a knock on the door from law enforcement, asking them to leave their home.
Homeowner Karolyn Odmark asked for a police officer to come over and check out what looked like five pieces of dynamite bound together with wire and connected to a device labeled "detonator" in a box.
Odmark got the box from a man who was outside a thrift shop who was donating lots of stuff. Karolyn says she saw cables she wanted and asked the man for the box. He gave it to her.
Odmark unpacked the box full of cables when she got home and found the device on the bottom.
For three hours her neighbors waited a block away while hazmat and the bomb squad blew it up.
She was later told by investigators, "The detonator was authentic. It was something to power an explosive."
And Odmark added she was told if it wasn't real dynamite.
