Train derails near Brackettville, no injuries reported

SAN ANTONIO -- A train derailed near Brackettville in Kinney County Tuesday morning.

The Kinney County Sheriff's Office received a call about the derailment around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. A sheriff's office spokesperson said the accident happened about 16 miles west of Bracketville off of Highway 90. The highway had to be closed while crews worked to determine if anything hazardous had been spilled.

Officials with Laughlin Air Force Base confirmed they sent 20 to 25 of their personnel to assist with the derailment.

No injuries have been reported.
