PLEASANTON, Texas -- Union Pacific investigators are working to determine what caused a train to derail in Pleasanton Tuesday morning.

The derailment happened around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. According to Captain Rick Gutierrez of the Pleasanton Police Department, five cars of a Union Pacific train derailed along US Highway 281. The cars were hauling some non-hazardous base materials used for pads on drilling rigs. Gutierrez told News 4 WOAI the conductor was only traveling about 5 miles per hour at the time of the derailment. He also confirmed the tracks in the area had been worked on recently.

One lane of US Highway 281 was closed to allow for clean up.

HazMat Experts and Firefighters petition Dow Chemical and Union Pacific for safe rail tank cars transporting gas chlorine. Secondary containment is a necessary improvement that must be implemented. See--PETITION C KIT for First Responders Comments.

Armywife, there was no one hurt or killed in this wreck. I hope it destroyed a lot of beer and whiskey because I am a Christian, and I know that drinking beer and whiskey is a sin. It's also a sin to question a Christian. Obviously, you are not a Christian, and you love drinking your whiskey, which explains why you are so upset over this train wreck. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of whiskey, so you won't have to worry about doing without. There could still be help for your troubled soul, and you could possibly release yourself from the devil's clutches. If you'd put down your bottle of whiskey long enough to come to a real Christian church, you will find out if it's still possible for you to make it to heaven.

You consider accidents, where people gt hurt and/or killed, a blessing? Very Christian of you. Sounds as if your inability to accept those for whom they are is a touch of Satan's hand. Judge lest ye be judged.

Hopefully, it was a train filled with beer and whiskey that spilled all over the ground, so that no one can drink it. The Lord has been blessing us with wrecks that keep beer and whiskey from making its way to the devil's people.
