SAN ANTONIO -- The top of a trailer was torn off when a truck driver drove under a bridge on the South Side Monday afternoon.

The accident happened around 3:00 p.m. Monday at South St. Mary's and Roosevelt on the South Side. Officials say the driver simply misjudged the height on his trailer

Police had to help transfer cows from the damaged truck into another truck.

That is one low bridge. That drivers perception must be way off.

1sword, I've seen trucks have to back up and go around traffic because of one super low bridge in New Braunfels. But even with signs some people don't connect the dots til it's too late

Most of the time by the time you are where you can see the sign, it's too late anyway. On ramps, freeways, one way streets, etc. I have often wondered what they are supposed to do when I see those. Seems like there should be a standardazation and posting of signs at least a block away (so you can turn off the road) if the bridge is under this specified height. Then truck can be standardized.

THOSE POOR OLE COWS ARE going to slaughter same as the driver. Read signs, almost happened to me once, that was enough, read the signs when you are not sure where you are..........Just an accident, but costly.

This gumba was lost L & H is up the road on Steves and these guys are supposed to get on and off over on the Probandt st exit off of hwy 90 and yes the height should be posted but any one with any kind of sense of perception knows that bridge is way to low to haul a stock trailer thru there. Driver error

It should not be difficult to determine who is to blame. Just look at who owns the bridge, the city, the county, the state; and ask who dropped the ball by not measuring the clearance and not posting it. Any thing less than 13 feet 6 inches should have been marked. The driver would have had to get an oversize load permit from the unnamed "officials"and again they have dropped the ball
