SAN ANTONIO -- A man was arrested after officers say he led them on an hour long chase Friday afternoon.

A DPS trooper said deputies in Atascosa County were attempting to make a routine traffic stop on Interstate 37 around 1:15 p.m., but the driver of the Ford SUV sped off. The driver went north on Interstate 37 into Bexar County with officers in pursuit. The chase ended around 2:30 p.m. at Interstate 10 East and FM 1516, when officers used spikes to stop the SUV.

A DPS trooper said the man will be charged with evading arrest. News 4 WOAI was told the SUV was not registered to the man. It's not known if the SUV was stolen.

No injuries were reported, but a couple of other drivers ended up with flat tires.

The rest of the story is that there ended up with a multi vehicle crash because of rubbernecking. Traffic was backed up to Loop 410 south because of the wreckage. There were people injured. Just not in the chase.
