AT&T plans to cut 12,000 jobs beginning this month. The question is: How will San Antonio be affected?
AT&T's announcement comes just 9 months after the company announced it's first big layoff this year of 4600 employees.
Bill Mock of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce told News 4 he hasn't heard how many jobs will be lost in San Antonio.
AT&T spokesman Walt Sharp said the layoffs will be across the company and across the country. Sharp added the layoffs are partly in response to lost revenue now that so many people have decided to stop using landlines.
Because the telecom giant hasn't said how many people will be laid off here, Bill Mock said it's too early to tell how San Antonio will be affected.
Despite the layoffs, AT&T plans to hire more people for their cell phone and broadband internet departments next year.
