SAN ANTONIO - The tomato shortage has hit San Antonio. We found a sign at a Wendy's on San Pedro Downtown explaining to customers that they do not have any tomatoes. Similar signs are up at restaurants all across town.

Florida's crop of tomatoes withered during a frosty January. Now, there's a shortage and prices are soaring. Many restaurants are opting to do without them to save money.

The good news is the spring crop looks healthy.

Something reeks here and it's not withered tomatoes. My gut instinct tells me this so-called "shortage" is being rigged to drive up prices. Fortunately I grow my own tomatoes year round; garden in the summer, greenhouse in the winter. But keep your eyes on this, methinks this shortage is manufactured.

sorry I meant to say NOT going to be good business not that it is good for business.

Hey as long as they don't start charing for Salsa and Chips or ketchup then we are cool other wise this is going to be good business for a couple of months. I just don't get why do we have to depend of FLA for Orange Juice and Tomatoes? Whatever happened to those HEB commercials about Chilean Fruits and Vegetables or other countries that boast they have harvest seasons and don't have to charge us so much at the markets for the fruits and vegetables they sell?

Communism is taking over the country, Obama is trying to tell you what medical treatments you can get, the County Judge is trying to tell you what SPORTS you should root for, and we're more worried about tomatoes?
