SOMERSET, Texas – Bexar County arson investigators say they have made the third and final arrest for the fire which heavily damaged Somerset Jr. High School over the weekend.
Jacob Allen Pena, 17, denied any involvement in the break in and subsequent fire, but investigators said he was implicated by the two other suspects -- Ricardo Martinez and Paul Andrew Pena, Jacob’s brother.
Martinez, 19, and Paul Pena, 18, were arrested Monday and charged with arson, burglary, and other charges.
The trio told detectives that they were playing video games late Friday, into early Saturday, “when they become bored” according to a news release by the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Investigators say cameras at the school caught the teens walking on the property before the fire broke out.
At first, the Pena brothers said they didn't have anything to do with the fire.
Ricardo Martinez first told investigators he used a rock to break out the windows in the double-glass doors of the annex building. After investigating further, detectives determined that Jacob Pena wielded the rock.
Martinez allegedly used gasoline and lighter fluid to set fire to a desk. The ensuing fire caused around $600,000 in damages.
