SAN ANTONIO - A group of men dressed in security uniforms walked into the Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center and rolled out with an ATM on a dolly. The brazen thieves were caught on surveillance video from the hospital, and were quickly caught by San Antonio Police.

Turns out, police had been watching the thieves' home off the 100-block of Comfort, west of downtown, for several months. They were tipped off to the stolen ATM and when they went to check on the home, they spotted two men trying to drill, and pry the 800-pound machine open. The thieves were unsuccessful.

Instead, they were caught by police and arrested. Officers tell News 4 WOAI they suspect the four men and one woman are responsible for several other ATM thefts all over the city.

They face organized crime charges.

The only way these thieves got caught was because the police had been watching them and tipped off. If the ATM(s) had a Bull Horn ATM Alarm then they would have been caught a long time ago. As soon as the ATM was lifted from the floor the alarm would have sounded at 120db. www.bullhornatmalarm.com

The majority of the security guards at Methodist hospital are either taking naps in the parking garage or chasing nurses. They are rude and very unprofessional. Physicians, Staff and visitors are constantly victims of theft and vandalism. Management has failed to correct this problem. Computers and TV's have walked out in broad daylight. You get what you pay for.

Methodist has a policy - employee ID or Visitor Badge - of course, you have to follow the policy. There are numerous unattended entrances to that facility - as most hospitals. Hospitals are one of the most difficult to control access because of the number of employees, physicians and staff, patients, vendors, delivery personnel coming in and out 24/7.

Dressed in security uniforms...the hospital needs to re-evaluate their policies otherwise, any unauthorized person posing as a security can gain access to the premises and do God knows what. Glad they were caught.
