SAN ANTONIO - A group of men dressed in security uniforms walked into the Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center and rolled out with an ATM on a dolly. The brazen thieves were caught on surveillance video from the hospital, and were quickly caught by San Antonio Police.
Turns out, police had been watching the thieves' home off the 100-block of Comfort, west of downtown, for several months. They were tipped off to the stolen ATM and when they went to check on the home, they spotted two men trying to drill, and pry the 800-pound machine open. The thieves were unsuccessful.
Instead, they were caught by police and arrested. Officers tell News 4 WOAI they suspect the four men and one woman are responsible for several other ATM thefts all over the city.
They face organized crime charges.
