SAN ANTONIO - The teen birth rate in the United States has fallen for the third straight year.  Mississippi has the highest rate, with 55 teen births per 1,000 girls. New Hampshire had the lowest rate at 16 per 1,000. Texas has the fourth highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation, with 52 per 1,000 thousand girls aged 15-19 giving birth.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports the 2010 rate for teenage moms was the lowest point since record keeping began in 1940.
Since 1991, the overall teen rate has dropped by 44 percent.

Researchers say the decline is partly due to the economy and pregnancy prevention efforts.

golfnut, if parents and others AREN'T supportive it's more likely that she will have another baby before she turns 20. :L As for the welfare thing teen mom aren't the only one on welfare a lot of people are. It's the economy. And the Texas Sex Ed classes are fine. They don't provide as much information as I think they should but they are fine. They try and use the scare people into being abstinent.

cut w.i.c. if they have another kid. it is way to easy for these kids. long ago, you were looked down upon. today, their family gives them baby showers, allowed to continue in school and don't have a worry because the gov't (tax payer)will take care of them. the father should be brought in and clipped. it is reverisble or the woman need to stay on the patch to get welfare.

now we know why so many kids don't have insurance, they are too young to qualify for a policy.
