a gun in the hand of a nut is the problem but a gun in the hand of a sane person is the solution

Even a firefighter knows you can fight fire with fire, I believe every legal citizen who passes a background check and that can maintain a good record should be able to carry regardless of location, you are not supposed to carry in a mall, well look at all the nonsense that happens in malls and there parking lots. Teachers should be able to protect the children. Guns are not the problem crazy idiotic people are the problem.

The only person asking for trouble, @twister2, would be the crazy who threatens the life of a child at that school. It’s call defense of yourself and others. WRT a misfire because of a hug? Obviously, you don’t know much about guns. I hug my spouse all the time, and we’re both armed. The emphasis in CCL is “concealed.” No student will be aware of where a gun is, whether on your person, in your desk, in a purse, or in a briefcase. Your fantasies don’t mesh with the realities of the world. Just because you’re too dumb to qualify for a CCL doesn’t mean that sane, rational, individuals who know how to handle a weapon should not do so. Again, @Lervia, you’re absolutely right…no issues there for the last four years, because they made it known locally that the teachers were armed. I have a friend who was a student at Virginia Tech when the crazy massacred folks there, and he is not only a HUGE believer in concealed carry, he said he’ll never be unarmed again. Rick Perry is absolutely right. If you qualify for a CCL, you should be allowed to carry your weapon anywhere. Make it so, Mr. Governor.

Lervia, it may be a workable solution for a minuscule school in a minuscule district, in the middle of nowhere. For the rest of us, here are some questions to answer: 1) who will be liable for damages when 20 kindergarteners hug their teacher, the weapon misfires and kills one? 2) who will be liable when a middle schooler accidentally bumps a teacher in the hallway and the gun misfires? 3) who will be liable when a mentally handicapped kid needs to be restrained, he grabs the gun from the administrator and fires it? 4) who will be liable when a middle schooler steals a gun from the teachers desk? Reality doesn't mesh with the ideology of Weapons Advocates.

Now the teachers can have sex with the students and protect them.

twister, they've been packing since 2008, so this isn't something new. And, the fact that they are 30 minutes from first responder help, seems like a logical solution to me.

we don't allow teachers to carry in many places now, don't already have trouble?

This should be the policy across the whole state of Texas. When some loon goes berserk he's not going to wait until you call 911.
