From NBC News:

It's an inspirational story of a 6-year-old Texas boy whose legs were amputated as a toddler. With prosthetics, he's gone on to run part of a marathon, dance with Ellen Degeneres and throw out the first pitch at a Texas Rangers game.

"Just because you've got some sort of a difference to you does not mean that you can't do what you wanna do," said Cody's Mother, Tiny McCasland.

Cody's mom took pictures to document the challenges her son faces every day.

"I don't think people see Cody day to day, and they don't know that he really doesn't have any limbs, so unless you see him at swimming or unless you see him at the house here, you don't ever see his legs. You see the legs that have been made for him," explained McCasland,

Cody has 3 sets of prosthetic legs that give him the freedom to be the 6-year-old boy he is.

"Cody playing sled hockey, which is an amazing sport. He can play a sport that is just like anybody else would play, and the only thing different is the kind of skating he does. Instead of skating on his feet, he skates on a sled," said McCasland.

"For someone such as Cody, you can use a hand cycle where you do it by your hands, and for him a rush. He's out there with the wind blowing in his face and doing something that his friends can do. He's told us, mommy, daddy when can I start riding a bike with my feet, so I'm sure at some point he's going to find a way," McCasland added.

"Cody is headed to the Paralympics as far as I know. that's what he wants to do. He wants to swim, he wants to run!" explained McCasland.

And he wants to do it all his way - the path of most resistance.

"He does not choose the ramp. He decides to go up the stairs to show everyone he can do stairs. Cody makes me realize that when a challenge is thrown at you in life, there is always a way to overcome it,' McCasland told NBC.

"I hope this story is able to touch others out there and continue to spread the message that there's ways to make your life anything you want to be," said McCasland.

And that life is full of victories worth celebrating.
