SAN ANTONIO – Police surrounded the Exxon gas station after a couple of San Antonio Police officers reported being attacked by a group of teens Monday night.

The problem outside the gas station on Roosevelt Avenue and SE Military Drive started when an elderly man asked a police officer, who happens to be an SAPD helicopter pilot, for help with three teenage boys who were messing with him.

“I just heard pop, pop, pop,” said Connie DeLaRosa as she described a series of gunshots she heard coming from the gas station. “Then I heard two more pops.”

Witnesses say gunshots rang out moments after one officer approached the teens. Investigators say two of those boys attacked the officer.

The policeman was able to get one of the guys in a headlock, according to investigators.

The other two suspects quickly drove off in a black car, but the driver came back to the gas station lot and ran into a woman who was trying to help police. Her frightened children were just a few steps away.

“I know their mom is kind of hurt, but hopefully she’ll be alright,” said Jesse Corrales, the victim’s brother.

Investigators say the teenage driver continued chasing a second officer around the parking lot. That policeman fired several shots at the suspect’s car as it hit the officer’s leg.

The three teens have been arrested. A policeman and a good Samaritan are in the hospital with injuries from the suspect’s car. Another police officer has injuries from a scuffle with the teens.

"Everyone was fortunate that no one else was injured,” said San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus.

That lady is to be applauded for stepping in to help the officers. As for the 3 losers both of them need to go down for aggravated assault and attempted capital murder. As for the 3rd one if it turns out he wasn't involved in the assault and was trying to just get away from this mess then he should get off a lot lighter. What on earth are they teaching down at the firing range these days? The city needs to pony up the cash to get these officers a lot more range time. come on everyone knows it's double tap to the chest and one in the noggin to make sure. Especially if the assailant is bearing down on you with a car or weapon. I'd rather see them err on the side of down and dirty put em down quick then take a chance they'll be able to get one off on you. practice practice practice two center and either one in the noggin or one in sack preferably the noggin since the weapon should be naturally rising anyway. Oh and I'm sure momma or some other family member will come on and say the officer did not have to shoot poor junior or whatever and that the cops were out of line. Anyone care to take that bet?

Not surprised. San Antonio is nothing but a cesspool of gangs, drugs, crime, prostitution, and hate. At least Austin is more progressive and open minded. :)

I agree. Waterboard them. Not for being gang members, but for what they did to the officers and that lady. The funny thing about gang members, is that they never visit their "homies" in the pokey, and they always squeal like rats when the pressure's on. They can plan on getting popped in the head at some point, just by virtue of who they associate with. Some familia they got, there. People, even if you're poor, and your mamma is strung out on crack, you have much better options then joining a gang. It will always ruin your life, and others'. Anyway, my respect to the officers and to the lady; I hope ya'll recover well.

tblack I totally agree and I am surprised this has not been made the case. Gang members are terrorist and we should send them all to a place like Gitmo.

any gang affiliation should be considered terrorism and prosecuted to the extreme. F those pos, nothing but a bunch of unintelligent p*ssies.
