SAN ANTONIO- A spokesperson for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) said one of its own shot and killed a teenager in self defense. This happened around 1:30 Sunday morning on Culebra just west of FM 1560.
According to BCSO spokesperson Louis Antu, Sergeant Frank Bellino came across a man walking down the street acting suspicious. That’s when the sergeant stopped to check things out but, things quickly got out of control.
“He pulled over, started speaking to the individual, the individual became violent, he felt the need to open fire and shot the individual multiple times,” explained Antu.
The 19-year-old man was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man’s identity is being with held until his relatives are notified of his death.
Sergeant Bellino, who served the department for 26 years, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
