SAN ANTONIO -- A teenager who was in handcuffs and leg shackles escaped from custody and somehow managed to jump onto a moving train near Downtown.
The 16-year-old state inmate was being transported by a detention officer when he acted like he was going to be sick. When the officer pulled over the vehicle in the 300 block of Center Street and opened the door, the teen pretended he was vomiting. He then jumped up and ran away. The teen squeezed through a space between two fences and jumped onto a train traveling Northeast.
The train stopped a short time later near Salado Creek at Splashtown. Officers searched the area and launched Eagle to search by air, but did not find the teen.
The teen was serving time for a robbery and being taken to a maximum-security facility near Waco.
