SAN ANTONIO - A teenager accused of brutally murdering a friend for cash asked for a bond reduction to get out of jail. Erich Ramirez and Dillan Stanley are charged with robbing and beating Gilbert Fernandez, 18, to death with a hammer and then running him over with a car last June.
Ramirez, 19, asked that his one million dollar bond be reduced. The victim's mother, Maggie Fernandez, was outraged, and begged the court to leave Martinez in jail.
“It has been very difficult for us," said Fernandez. "We are the ones left behind and trying to cope with the whole thing and waiting for justice to be done.”
Fernandez played football and would have graduated from high school this year. His mother says he never had a chance to meet his baby boy.
The judge denied Martinez' request for a bond reduction. He remains in the Bexar County Jail.
