ADKINS, Texas -- A 12-year-old boy was shot at his home in East Bexar County.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 4300 block of Stuart Road, near Highway 87 and Loop 1604, around 2:00 p.m. Thursday. According to a Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the boy's 14-year-old brother accidentally shot him with a .22 caliber weapon. The 14-year-old ran next door to his aunt's house to get help.

The 12-year-old was taken by AirLife to University Hospital and was conscious at the time he was transported. His brother was not injured in the shooting but is said to be in shock.

The boys' mother was at work, and the boys were home alone when the shooting happened.

Some of you people are something else. Bubba shoots Little Bubba and you blame Obama? Is anything that happens to you or anybody just plain stupidity?

If you have guns in your home and don't wish to take the time to teach your children how to act around them and DON'T lock them up then the fault is all your own. I have two brothers and we grew up with guns in the house and knew how to handle them around the times we were all in the 6 to 8 year old range and never managed to shoot each other no matter how bad we fought.

This is the reason why I bought a gun safe. People hear and read about this stuff happening all the time and they STILL do nothing about it till it's toooo late. They got lucky this time. I member when I was young as soon as my parents left it was like an easter egg hunt. Just to see what I could find, oh boy did I, especially around xmas. Sooooo put ur DAMN weapons under lock and key. Very, very simple. Hope the kids get passed this.

@Phrilly, he wasn't killed. I believe he's in stable condition. I would just like to know why the gun wasn't locked up. Kids will be kids and go looking for trouble sometimes. They are old enough to stay home unsupervised, but to not be educated about gun safety falls squarely in the lap of the parent(s). I hope both will recover. I'm sure the 14 year old is very traumatized, too.

this is not the mothers fault most likely she was working 2 jobs just to make ends meat to keep her kids feed if you want to blame somebody for this blame the white house for what are country has become where a mother has to work so much just to make it by herself instead of being at home more often with her family to prevent something like this tragedy from happening in the first place.
