SAN ANTONIO - The Northeast ISD school board voted Monday night to terminate a teacher who was accused of having a romantic relationship with a senior student.

"The school board decision was unanimous," said NEISD spokesman Vic Garcia.

School administrators were notified of the relationship between the Madison High School English teacher in his 30's and his 18-year-old student back in February.

Garcia told News 4 WOAI the teacher initially requested a hearing from the Texas Education Agency regarding his employment, but later withdrew his request.

"He's exhausted his appeal process," Garcia went on to say.

The district police department is reviewing and collecting evidence in this case, and will present all findings to the Bexar County District Attorney's office for further review.

B.S The school board is simply puppets for the district officials. They are never presented with the whole story.I'm not saying this incident didn't happen but it's ridiculous to think the school board was presented with all the evidence. Remember, in NEISD, your guilty until proven innocent as in the case with the JROTC instructors at MacArthur and the students who allegedly hazed another. It's all political bullcrap and if people like Mark Sheffler, Joe Reasons and Mr Henson are at the helm, no one will get a fair trial. I hope these 2 new board members can find it in their hearts to really look at all aspects of these issues, and all others that arise, then maybe those innocent instructors and students will have their due process. Otherwise, we're screwed! Time to have those good ol' boys at district retire and bring in some fresh new open-eyed people.

I agree with Jimkata. She is an adult, whether she is in school or not. I am amazed how the blame rests soley on the teacher. I'm sure she was not an innocent little girl. In my days.... it was hard to find a girl that "would", today it is hard to find a girl that "won't". She was old enough to say no. Having said that, the teacher should have known better and should have kept it in his pants. BOTH are at blame. Just saying

@firedogg - thats kinda what I was trying to say... I don't think it was "illegal" as you say it is, but unethical, and immoral... I think it will cost him his job, but since a crime hasn't been committed (since the student was of legal age) he won't do jail time. As far as the "law" is concerned, it was two consenting adults. I believe the school will say its ethics and code of conduct for teachers were violated, but that in and of itself is not a crime.

Not sure where you are coming up with it being "Two dudes" What I am seeing and reading is "between the Madison High School English teacher in his 30's and his 18-year-old student back in February. "his" in the latter sentence referring to the teacher - the teachers 18 year old student. Did I miss something somewhere? Let me know.

@pandalvr- I'm not sure your statement about legal age of consent is correct. If it were, a 20 year old that failed a few grades would not be of legal age of consent if they were still in high school. I think what we have here is a case of something being "unethical" but maybe not "illegal". It should surely cost him his job as he surely has violated many policies, as well as the trust put into his position. "Two dudes"? There must be something in the video that I'm not able to view right now...

@ phenry64, would if have a made a difference if it were two women, or a man and woman to you? @jimkata, when they are still i high school age goes out the window when it comes to "legal age of consent", this teacher preyed on this student in more than just one way. He preyed on this students vulnerability of his sexual preference, he preyed on this students his position at the school, and he preyed on this students vulnerability with his age.

Well... not that this excuses the teacher/student relationship, but at least the student was of legal age...
