SAN ANTONIO -- A teacher assistant in the North East Independent School District is without a job after a student was bitten by a rattlesnake.

The incident happened during an after-school program at Longs Creek Elementary last Wednesday. The boy was standing near the assistant, who let him touch the snake.

District officials say the assistant used poor judgment, and she is no longer working for them. The area near the school has been sprayed to keep snakes away.

News 4 WOAI was told the boy is still recovering but doing better.

These after school programs are dangerous...my son was in a NEISD KIN program many years ago and suffered a broken back due to insufficent supervision while they were on the playground...trouble shooters should do an investigation to see how safe the KIN program is in NEISD! Scary stuff!!

Can we spray for other pests too? I would start with the Federal Government and then work backwards.
