SAN ANTONIO - “Old Glory” is a symbol of freedom and our country. Dozens of people complaining about a ripped up and tattered American Flag flying over a Chevron in the Stone Oak Area.
We went to the station Sunday to see if they could get it replaced, but management said they couldn't do anything at that time.
On Monday it was a different story. A brand new flag is now proudly waving above the gas station.
Crews with Airborne Flag got the call from station management early Monday morning, and replaced Old Glory.
That made even the youngest passers-by much happier.
“We were driving down the road. I saw a rip and it wasn't very good because the American Flag is very good for us and we fought all these wars and I thought it wasn't respectful to have a rip in the flag,” said little Kylie Dean.
People were very passionate about this tattered flag. We even had a couple Veterans call the newsroom offering to replace the flag themselves.
