LEON VALLEY, Texas -- Taggers in Leon Valley had better watch out. City officials are tired of all the graffiti and have now revealed a hidden-camera plan to catch taggers in the act.
Harold Blake has painted and re-painted over graffiti on the walls of his business for years. Blake even keeps a own 5-gallon bucket of paint to cover it up.
"It runs me 200, 300, 400 dollars every time I have to do it," Blake told News 4 WOAI.
Leon Valley officials are tired of it too. So, the Leon Valley Police Department set up several digital cameras that work during the night and day, only no one can see them.
"Cameras are mobile," explained Leon Valley Police Chief Wallace. "They may be at one location today, another tomorrow."
Blake likes the idea. He said when it works, he wants the taggers to repaint his whole building as part of their punishment.
"They should have to pay the bill," added Blake. "They came out here. They should foot the bill. Put them to work. Maybe they'll have something better to do."
Chief Wallace also told News 4 WOAI that, when caught, the taggers will face charges.
