SAN ANTONIO - We are learning more about the man who opened fire on police after waving guns at employees and customers at a fast food restaurant.

It all happened Sunday at the Taco Bell in the 5300 block of Rigsby. Police say Ricardo Jones, 37, became angry over the price of a "Beefy Crunch Burrito" that had gone up 50 cents in price.

Witnesses say Jones started shooting an air gun at the restaurant manager, displayed a semiautomatic assault rifle and pistol – and then took off.

Police caught up to Jones and tried pulling him over. That's when officers say Jones got out of his car and exchanged gunfire with them. He then took off again, heading to his motel room. A three hour standoff with police ensued.

“All of a sudden we see cop car after cop car after cop car,” said witness Jim Conway.

Conway is from Colorado, and is in San Antonio for spring break. He’s staying at the Roadway Inn of W.W. White Road were the suspect barricaded himself.

“It literally had to be twelve to fifteen cop cars -- then we saw SWAT coming in,” recalled Conway.

SWAT members shot tear gas into the man's room, shattering the window and eventually forcing him out. That’s when Jones was finally taken into custody.

Jones is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. The weapons used were recovered. No injuries were reported.

I liked the Taco Bell dog...it properly labled that slop "dog food". This wacko pulls a gun over the price of mystery meat. What's gonna happen on college campuses when a student gets a bad grade?

If he doesn't like the rise in prices of food dependant on corn (that would be corn products, and products from all animals that eat corn, such as chicken, pork, beeft, eggs, milk...), then he should have gone and shot something pumping ethanol-containing gas.

Esther, you may want to re-read the article. Jones was not from Colorado, a man staying at the hotel that they interviewed is from Colorado.
