From WMAQ-TVCHICAGO, Ill. – Police here are looking for an apparent family of pickpockets.
Erin Bogner was doing work at a coffee shop Sunday afternoon when she fell victim to the woman and two children.
Surveillance video shows a woman come into the shop with the kids. You can see one of the children swipe some candy.
The woman walks up to Bogner and uses the children as a shield, then with lightning speed lifts Bogner's wallet from her purse and stuffs it into one of the kid's jackets.
"Just seeing it and how she turned him around, you know, I just feel disgusted. You feel sorry for the kids," Bogner said. "It just became clear to me the more that I watch it the more that they were there for that one purpose. It was get in, see what vulnerable people are there, obviously they saw me."
Bogner hopes the video will prevent another adult from using children to commit a crime.
"It's just a prime example of how children might grow up to be poorly behaved adults," she said. "Those are the types of examples you are setting."
