SAN ANTONIO -- A man was in critical condition Saturday night, after he was hit by a box truck while dashing across the eastbound lanes of Loop 410.
Around 9:00 p.m. Saturday, the Balcones Heights Police Department responded to a theft call at the Target on Fredericksburg Road near Loop 410.
Detectives said officers found a man believed to be a shoplifter running out of the store and gave chase.
Police said the man dashed onto Loop 410 and was hit by a box truck just seconds later.
Officers on the scene said the man's condition was "critical" and "not good."
The man was later transported to an area hospital.
Eastbound traffic on Loop 410 was backed up for several hours while emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene.
