SAN ANTONIO - A routine traffic stop turned into a police chase after police ran the car's plates and realized it was stolen.
“They crashed into my car parked right here -- and then it pushed it all the way over there," motioned Crystal Garza.
Garza was watching a movie inside her house when the suspects the police were chasing bailed out of the car. The car was still running and smashed right into Garza's parked car on Salisbury Street.
Officers tried to pull the suspects over when the registration came back as a stolen vehicle out of Corpus Christi. They didn't get too far. The passenger was arrested as soon as he jumped out of the car and tried to run. As for the driver, he ran right into a mailbox and knocked himself out.
The injured suspect yelled to his buddy, "I broke my arm" as he sat below the bent mailbox in handcuffs with police surrounding him.
Fortunately nobody in the neighborhood was hurt.
"This is probably more than third incident that’s happened," Garza told News 4 WOAI. "Our dog just got hit three weekends ago – had to have surgery. And another car was wrecked into. It’s ridiculous.”
Both men were arrested and taken to jail.
