MEXICO CITY (AP) - A new report by U.S. and Mexican researchers suggests an uptick in the number of illegal migrants headed to the United States in the first half of 2012, and a slight decrease in migrants returning to Mexico.

The report by Mexico's Colegio de la Frontera Norte and the University of Southern California's Tomas Rivera Policy Institute says the U.S. Mexican migrant population appears to have stabilized and may be growing slightly.

It would be the first time net migration outflow from Mexico has increased since the 2007 economic downturn.

The report released Tuesday says that heightened U.S. anti-immigration efforts don't appear to have convinced migrants to leave.

The report is based on surveys done at Mexican border crossings, bus stations and airports, and on U.S. deportation, repatriation and demographics data.

I'm all for shutting down illegal immigration 100%. We need to free up all those agricultural jobs for the lazy American citizens that are living very cushy on the government tit, or should I say on the taxpayers dime.

Net migration was determined to be zero a few months ago (ie, the same number of people were leaving as coming). Migration has slowed because of a combination of more enforcement and fewer available jobs. More people are now trying to immigrate because the US economy is picking up steam.

I understand people gets frustrated about migratory patterns. For some reason, in this world people like to migrate from the South to the North. Usually migrating involves a lot of hardship, including leaving family, friens and memories behind, to confront unknown places and many times evil people. Anyway, anyone with some history knowledge accepts the fact, and knows also that any effort to stop this phenomenon it's like trying to stop with your hands a huge tsunami. Impossible. You can put together the heads of the best American presidents we have had (leave Dubya out), and still they couldn't curb the migratory flow.

Obama, their savior, is allowing them to enter. And more will enter if he wins. Just look around you. They are everywhere and are demanding that you speak to them in Spanish. Some of the biggest employers are Eagle Ford Shale oil field workers, support companies, construction companies, restaurants, apartments,etc.etc.

After reading some of these comments you feel disorientated, like someone who's been asleep for far too long during the day.

What, you mean the BO regime's policies of not deporting supposedly non-criminal illegal aliens and his de facto amnesty for illegal alien minors along with their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. hasn't convinced illegal aliens that their scofflaw behavior of thumbing their noses at this countries laws wont be tolerated?

I am so tired of hearing on the news that so many planes are leaving each day with thousands of illegals and leaving them in Mexico City. This is false according to statistics here. They have made themselves at home, now, and new ones are headed here know the US Immigration is doing nothing to arrest them and send them back. Seems like more and more OBAMA is giving them more rights here. Guess like they are here to stay!

Better than having illegal immigrants claiming their seat at the family reunion.
