@donoho, if it was so important for the school to "curve" attendance records then, why expell a student for not wearing an rfid badge, considering it would've hurt the income/student. Isn't this what the school is trying to prove attendance to gain additional funds for such attendance? Justice of the peace Lopez conducted a truancy roundup, which was good, going after those students and their parents that actually posed a problem. How would you like if Lopez and/or the school pd went after every student (non-truant) homes to "just make sure" that student was going to show up to school the next day? How about having the school pd conduct these home visits to insure every student show up to school even though, these students (with good attendance, good grades and report cards aren't part of the problem) would this be ok with you? You're still missing the point, the school is using technology to do the policing, somehow, I find it hard to believe that you cannot, accept, or comprehend the situation. AND yes, I've worked for the gov (DOD) and you probably only have a basic background check (hence your paranoia). BTW, USAA, Boeing or Lockheed..seriously!..you're probably a contractor!

I respect and admire the Amish and Mennonites. What you quote, by the way is NOT a “God-given right” to be “secure in our persons” but a right under the US Constitution. There is a difference. You choose not to have your child badged, as a parent? Your right. So home school them or send them to a private school. Oh, get a grip, @hidden agenda! “Make school enjoyable for kids???” Since when? There is absolutely no requirement for kids to “enjoy” school, and that’s one reason recess is popular. They are required to 1) be there and 2) do the work assigned, and 3) try to learn what the teachers are trying to teach. @JoNoes, you cannot “discriminate” against a particular group of students (truants and the habitually late) any more. I had a brother that could pass any test you gave him in high school, while sleeping through class and never crack a book. He was a rebel in every way. The problem is that HOW do you know who is cutting and who is not? Grades are not the only indicator. I had friends in HS that were honor roll students, who cut class several times a year. Yes, absolutely, my badge tracks when I clock in and out, when I go to lunch or exceed my lunch, when I work late, when I work for free on weekends. If I come to work without it, I get a temporary badge for the day before I even enter the area. If I forget my badge three times, I can be fired. Being here on time (or early) and doing my job DOES…NOT…MATTER. Ever consider working for any branch of government? USAA? Boeing or Lockheed? Learn to love the badge. And for you in particular, @JoNoes, learn what “rules” are and how to live by them. The chip is a condition of employment, or education, which you can quit.
