NEW YORK (NBC News Channel) -- Student ID cards that double as debit cards are drawing criticism.
According to an article in USA Today, a national consumer group is questioning whether students are being manipulated into using a bank's services not because it's the best deal but rather because it will benefit the college financially.
A report from the U.S. Public Interest Research Group found 32 of the 50 largest public universities have contracts with banks to provide debit cards with some arrangements subjecting students to potentially high fees.
