SAN ANTONIO - A good samaritan tried to intervene during a robbery, and ended up getting shot at as result.

The event happened at 3 A.M. when a man robbed a Murphy Express on Southeast Military near Brooks City-Base. A street sweeper was pumping gas when a man robbed items from the store and made off with the clerk's wallet and purse. The street sweeper attempted to follow the robber as he got into a brown getaway car. Police say the robber fired a couple of shots at the street sweeper hitting the bumper of his vehicle. The street sweeper called police, who advised him not to pursue the armed robber.

No one was hurt in the incident. Police are looking for the robber and another person who possibly was driving the vehicle.

That's the thanks you get trying to do something right. I'm glad he wasn't shot. That part of town is kinda scarey even in the daytime, I don't go anywhere close unless I'm with somebody else. I'm not holding my breath that our "outstanding" SAPD catches this dude.

OK. So the police told the huge street sweeper to stop chasing the bad guys and then they got away. Frickin genius.
