SAN ANTONIO - Victorian enthusiasts flocked to the St. Anthony Hotel Saturday to take part in a convention called Aetherfest.

It's hosted by the San Antonio Neo-Victorian Association.

In case you didn't know, Aetherfest is a celebration of what could have been if science had advanced as envisioned by the likes of Jules Verne and other 19th century science fiction writers.

Convention goers dressed in their finest as they descended upon the hotel, taking it back into the Victorian era along the way.

Various events took place including a dance, multiple concerts and even a trip to Alamo plaza.

If you missed Saturday's events, Aetherfest continues tomorrow morning at 11 am and runs until 7pm.

Veritas, feel free to check out the San Antonio NeoVictorian Association Facebook page and they will be happy to answer all of your questions. If you are really interested you can meet them in person every second Thursday at the Alamo Drafthouse Park North at 6pm for free Steampunk Movie night.

Hate to tell you Whocares. Steampunk has been around for at least 20+ years. It's not a "buzzword", it's been a legit sci-fi movement, albeit one of the smaller least noticed movements for awhile. Video Games like Bio-Shock and Crimson Skies have brought it up a few times but it hasn't really been noticed as much.

This story, as most that I read on this site, is so poorly written that it is of no use whatsoever. What happened at this convention? What is Aetherfest? How does it relate to the Neo-Victorian society? How many members attended? What does this society do? Do they show up in costume? Why are they so interested in theh Victorian era? Where are they from? What does "Steampunk" mean and why do they call themselves that? Surely there must have been some of the members who would have like to have been interviewed and given quotes. These are all questions that my highschool journalism teacher would have asked if I had submitted this story in its current form. I would suggest the writer go back and take journalism 101.
