SAN ANTONIO - A night of partying turns into a night of violence outside of a bar north of downtown. Dozens of shots were fired and in the end, one man was hit by a bullet, and three people were arrested.
While police are investigating the crime, the Texas Alcoholic and Beverage Commission (TABC) have gotten involved. They’re looking into whether the bar held any responsibility.
TABC Lieutenant Albert Salinas said, “It appears that the fight initially began inside the establishment and went out into the parking lot and that's when the exchange of gunfire took place”.
Police said at least two people from two separate groups started shooting outside Bar Central located along the 400 block of West Hildebrand. They arrested three people, 22- year old Joshua Guzman and 22- year old Matthew Sanchez on previous charges. Twenty-two year old Joe Ortega was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon.
”Whether or not they knew that these people had some problems before it got out of control as far as did they have words, did they actually start a fist fight and then were they broken up,” is something TABC is investigating explained Lt. Salinas.
TABC also wants to know whether employees called police before things escalated.
Bar Central has been open since late 2011 and according to Lt. Salinas they have been sited a hand full of times for violations of serving alcohol to a minor and several administrative violations. This is the first time Bar Central could face more serious charges.
