AUSTIN, Texas -- State Representative Naomi Gonzalez apologized to the house after being accused of drunk driving.

The democrat from El Paso was arrested last week after crashing her BMW, injuring another driver and bicyclist.

Monday, she thanked her colleagues for understanding and was given a standing ovation, followed by hugs and flowers.

Gonzalez has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The House Democratic Caucus said it was "unfortunate" and that we should respect Gonzalez's privacy and the privacy of the "other victims." "UNFORTUNATE?" "OTHER VICTIMS" This low-life should be serving time.

Next time I go to court for DWI I am going to take a bunch of poseys for the judge and clap for the DA. The precedent having been set in Austin, I should have no problem getting a free pass!

ok, she is in a position to uphold and possibly change laws or contribute to a law.. so does that give her the right to break the law?? from a DWI victims stand point she needs to be held accountable. I was struck by a DWI going 75mph when I was at a dead stop at a red light in 2000 and I am still struggling with back, neck and leg pains!!! oh yeah my doctor bills are outrages! yet let's give her hugs and kisses XOXOX! yeah right!!! grow some cahones and face the music... you had the cahones when you were out drinking, where are they now, oh there in the flower pot... really???

This sounds like an AA meeting. All the other alcoholics applaud one of their own.

So she drinks, drives, and injures two innocent people...and her cronies give her an ovation??? Really? Who's scarier in society- these lawless, power hungry crack head politicians, or the gullible idiots who vote them into office thinking they are worth anything...

Anyone who is "non-connected" would go to jail for this. She needs to go to jail. This is just another example of our elected officals getting away with murder. They are our representatives, nothing more. Send her but to jail.
