SAN ANTONIO -- Melissa Cheatwood and her family are very proud of her accomplishments as a Special Olympics ice skater and they should be.But the Special Olympics of Texas or SoTX has a big problem with 27-year-old Melissa's personal Website that highlights her accomplishments and they want her to fix it or not compete again.

But her mother and coach, Julie, says not being able to compete would break her daughter's heart.

Melissa's Website is called: vbiceprincess.com. The SoTX has already made her change several things -- like taking down a picture of her posing with her medal.

Now it wants her to take off her competition oath, the official Olympic rings logo, and the fundraising information because it says it violates its trademark guidelines.

Julie responds “there is nothing on Melissa’s Website that has a registered patent or registered trademark.”

She says they already changed the oath and Melissa made up her own version.

Melissa’s mom could be suspended from coaching if she doesn't comply. The SoTX wouldn't go on camera but did say it investigates all athletes and team Websites.

My question is why wouldn't they comment either by phone or on camera. Makes you wonder.. So sad when you have to bully a mentally retarded beautiful ice skater like "The Ice Princess". She probably has enough going on having to deal with health issues let alone something as ridiculous as this. I was at her web site and it is professional maintained and designed by a top webmaster complete with music, games, guestbook and much more. Well done web site the best I have ever seen. I'd like to see this on the National News certainly would make the talk at the office.

So they are mad because she posted their oath? Meaning she believes and abides by said oath and that makes them mad? She displays her accomplishments with them and that makes them mad? I don't get it, isn't it giving the special olympics good publicity also?

This is a very touching story. I have watched this "SPECIAL" young lady flourish into a beautiful skater. Special Olympics Texas leave her alone!!!!! This is all about money not about the athlete. As Mrs. Cheatwood says this is a private citizen's website not a SOTX team website. They have DEFINITELY overstepped their bounds on this story.
