SAN ANTONIO - Lone Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will give away free school supplies to elementary school age students on Tuesday, August 14th beginning at 2 pm until 6 pm. The festivities will also include food, and soft drinks will be provided.

“The Southside welcomed us with open arms when we relocated the dealership in 2009,” said Bill Day, president of Lone Star Auto Group. “We want to show our appreciation for their tremendous support by giving back to the community.

Everyone is welcome to visit, but quantities are limited to one packet per elementary school-age child while supplies last. The dealership is located at 8811 IH 35 South at the Somerset Road exit.

“We have kids, so we know how expensive this time of year can be for parents.” added Day.

Lone Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has partnered with the San Antonio Youth Education Scholarships (SA YES) Foundation to bring 1,000 packets of school supplies to their Southside neighbors.

“This year we will provide the required supplies to more than 29,000 elementary school children in the San Antonio area, so we are very grateful to partner with Lone Star to help us with distribution before school starts,” said Cari Richardson, executive director of the SA YES Foundation.

WOW, If your going to leave comments make sure you dont sound too much of an arrogant one track minded person. Your being racist because of what side of town its on. Why could'nt you just say I hope no one abuses the help.

Free everything, its the way of our country today. They should get rid of their cell phones, cable TV, quit getting piercings and tattoos and buy their kids school clothes and school supplies. At Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the begining of school they come out of the wood work poutting about how hard their lives are. You'd think if it were so bad people would think and not bringkids into the world they can afford to raise.

While I congratulate what they are providing to needy children, you will still have the abuse by the adults to bring in kids that don't need the help and those that will get in line more than once to get additional free stuff. Have some dignity people and do the right thing. If you can afford the items buy them and leave it to those in need and, if you are in need of these items, don't abuse it by getting more than you need and then turning around and selling them.
