SAN ANTONIO - A man who was attacked with an ax died on Thanksgiving Day after succumbing to his injuries. Police say the man was asleep, when his 19-year-old son, Marshall Lee Giles, attacked him with an ax.
The incident allegedly occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday, at a Downtown home off East Crockett and East Houston. When officers arrived, they found the father - also named Marshall Lee Giles - still alive on his couch, suffering from severe cuts to his head and his left eye nearly detached. They later found his son hiding in the home's crawlspace with the ax, calling it "a hatchet with a long handle."
The son was originally booked on $20,000 bond for aggravated assault, but that charge is expected to be upgraded to murder.
Police are still investigating a possible motive.
