SAN ANTONIO -- The Olmos Basin may look beautiful, but some News 4 WOAI viewers say it smells really, really bad.
"The smell of sewage is overwhelming," Robert Baron told us. "And I looked at the stream and the banks are all stained black, with uh, raw sewage. There's a film floating on the water."
We contacted San Antonio Water System and The San Antonio River Authority. Both of them sent out crews to take water samples. San Antonio River Authority officials say their tests showed high levels of oxygen and ammonia, which is consistent with a sewage leak. SAWS officials say they have been testing the water since last week, even going so far as to put cameras in the water, but have not found a leak.
Both groups tell us they will continue to monitor the situation.
