ANGEL FIRE, New Mexico - A single engine plane registered out of Texas crashed and burned shortly after takeoff at the Angel Fire Airport in New Mexico on Sunday.
There were no survivors, New Mexico State Police said.
Strong, gusty winds were blowing at the time of the crash. Witnesses told KOB TV they believe a family of four from San Antonio, Texas was on board. According the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane is registered to Verhalen Flyers Inc. in Scottsville, Texas.
An FAA spokesman tell us their investigators are on the way to the scene, and the NTSB has been notified. The time of the crash was 1:24 p.m. Mountain Time, or 2:24 p.m. here in Texas.
