SAN ANTONIO – In a little less than a week, rainfall has again inundated our area. Though the showers only deposited a half-inch to an inch of precipitation throughout the county, wet ground was unable to hold much of the runoff.

Many roadways rapidly became flooded. Several low water-crossings were closed and roads were a sloppy mess.

A News 4 WOAI crew witnessed a car flooding out at the I-35 eastbound access road at the Salado Creek. An elderly couple apparently went around the barricades and drove their car into the door-high water. They had to be rescued by nearby TxDOT workers. The San Antonio Fire Department checked out the couple for exposure.

At least one other water-rescue was reported, at Stahl and Higgins Roads, but the man was able to get out of his vehicle safely.

Fort Sam Houston says it closed the Binz-Engleman Road entrance. Brooke Army Medical Center staff also had to evacuate a parking lot near the Salado Creek.

Staff is advised to enter the Post using other gates at Walters Street, Harry Wurzbach or Cunningham-Wilson off Broadway.

In Adkins, east of San Antonio, a barn reportedly had its roof blown off by what are described as straight-line winds. No injuries to people or livestock were reported.
