SAN ANTONIO -- Police say a drowsy driver caused an accident near downtown on Monday morning.

Officers say an SUV rolled over after the driver slammed into a concrete barrier at I-10 and Culebra.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police think he fell asleep behind the wheel.

No other cars were involved.

Ha ha Lervia! Isn't in amazing what can run out in front of the car when you are all sleep deprived?! I'm sure I looked crazy driving thru traffic singing my little head off at 7am but it was for everyone else's safey as well as mine. In all seriousness I hope this guy is ok. My guess is that he was headed home after having to stay up all night. Smashing into a concrete barrier has to be a sucky way to wake up.

@little lady.....been there, done that, just not for the same reason!!!! Long commutes for other reasons, and I had to dodge "running mailboxes" on rural roads, too!!! That's total exhaustion, and admitted stupidity being behind the wheel, even with all windows open and the radio blasting with favorite sing along songs!!!!

At least nobody else was hurt. When I used to work 12 hour graveyard shifts those were some of the longest drives home. Thankfully I never fell asleep at the wheel but I had been known to drive home with all the windows rolled down and the radio blaring....anything to keep my body from switching to auto pilot or falling asleep.
