SAN ANTONIO -- It's looks like an energy drink, targeted for teens and young adults.
But it doesn't give you energy, it takes it away.
Called "Sippin Syrup", it sells "extended relaxation," "calmness," and even "euphoric thoughts".
One parent, who did not want to be identified, contacted us after she said her teenage son was offered free bottles at a local video game store during a promotional event.
"[My son] got them at Game Stop," the mom added. "He got them for free, and he and his buddies came home with the bottles."
Drink ingredients include Melatonin, plant extracts with sedating effects, and even agents found in beer and depression medicine. Though completely legal, in fine print, the label warns the drink is not intended for children, and not to drive after drinking it. It also says not to take more than two servings a day. One bottle has two servings in it.
"It doesn't say how much of these extracts are actually in the drink," says another mother, Emily Sytsma. "So you don't know what in fact you're getting.
