SAN ANTONIO- San Antonio's bicycling and fitness block-party known as Siclovía had a good turn out Sunday despite the chilly temperatures. The crowds did look smaller compared to the last time this event was held in April. But organizers claim that's only because the route was longer and more spread out this time. They estimate they still had 45,000 people take part despite the cold.
Mayor Julian Castro was also in the crowd and he said Siclovía was set up to promote a healthy lifestyle.
“This is so important to the health and fitness of our community, you can't make folks do stuff and you shouldn't try but you can give them a great opportunity to be healthy,” explained Mayor Castro.
Organizers are already planning the next Siclovía for the spring. The goal is to keep holding this fitness event twice a year.
