BEXAR COUNTY - Incumbent Sheriff Amadeo Ortiz won a decisive victory over challenger Andy Lopez in the runoff election for Democratic candidate for Bexar County Sheriff.

Ortiz won 63% of the vote with Lopez taking home 37%.

Ortiz says he changed tactics in anticipation of lower voter turnout. He said he went back to "grassroots efforts" to rally supporters and drum up support. Lopez said he knew it would be a tough race, but expected the numbers to be closer. He believes the later primary and runoff election dates hurt his chances.

Ortiz will take on Republican candidate Susan Pamerleau in November.

I bet Susan Pamerleau knows the difference between automatic and semi-automatic weapons.
